Tarneit’s New Train Station: Elevating Accessibility and Convenience

The growing landscape of Tarneit is set to welcome a significant upgrade that will enhance the accessibility and interconnectivity of the community. The Victorian Government recently announced plans to construct a new station in Tarneit’s West. Positioned at the junction of Davis and Leakes Road, seamlessly linking Tarneit to Melbourne’s bustling CBD.

The station will feature a landscaped area, equipped with seating, separated pathways, bike hoops and secure bike storage. A new road will be built off Leakes Road to provide access to 400 new car parks for local commuters, along with a comprehensive 4-bay bus interchange.

The community can give their feedback on the name for the new station, with names being considered including West Tarneit, Tarneit Rise, Sunray, Davis Creek and Melaleuca stations – a nod to local landmarks, and the environment of Tarneit. You can keep up to date with the progress of this exciting new project here.

Proximity to Unity Park: Access for All

Situated in close-proximity to Unity Park, the upcoming Tarneit station is all about accessibility. Imagine living within a quick 2-3 minute drive, a refreshing 5-minute cycle, or a casual 10-minute walk to the convenience of public transport. This close proximity doesn’t just promise ease of transit; it signals a new era of connected living where everything you need is within close reach.

Building Bridges: The Unity Park Davis Creek Extension

Unity Park developers, HB Land, are in the process of designing the extension of Davis Creek, including a High Velocity Share Path Network in Stage 10, which will include a cycle and pedestrian bridge connecting the community like never before. This high-velocity shared path network is designed to link residents to the new train station effortlessly, ensuring that accessibility remains the cornerstone of the community. In addition, this network will serve as a direct conduit to exciting future destinations like, Wyndham City Stadium and its adjacent train station, as well as the Tarneit Town Centre.

Emphasis on Walkability

Tarneit’s focal point on accessibility is complemented by the attention paid to walkability within the community. Encouraging residents to opt for walking or cycling over driving for their daily commutes not only alleviates traffic congestion but also promotes an active lifestyle. By prioritising convenient routes and thoroughfares that are pedestrian and cyclist friendly, Tarneit is catering to the needs of all, from young families to active seniors.
