It’s official – from Sunday 13 September, Unity Park residents will have a brand-new train station just four minutes up the road.
Victoria’s Big Build has confirmed the opening date for West Tarneit Station, and for anyone who calls Unity Park home (or is thinking about it), this is the moment the estate’s “most connected address in Tarneit” promise gets even harder to argue with.
What It Means for Your Mornings
Picture the new commute. A four-minute drive – or an easy seven-minute pedal – down to the station, straight onto the Geelong Line, and you’re on your way to Southern Cross. West Tarneit Station arrives with 400 car spaces of its own, so parking is sorted from opening day. That’s no small thing, given Tarneit Station next door already handles close to two million passengers a year as the busiest regional station outside Southern Cross.
West Tarneit opens with 400 car spaces, secure bike storage, two platforms and an accessible underpass -and it arrives alongside bigger 9-car VLocity peak services that boost capacity on the line by 50%. More trains, more seats, and a car park you’ll actually get a spot in.
Right on Our Doorstep
The access has been designed with this side of Tarneit in mind. A new road runs from Leakes Road to the southern side of the station, with a signalised intersection at Leakes Road and Heartlands Boulevard so you can turn in and out easily at peak hour – whether you’re driving, walking or riding.
Prefer the bus? More than 1,100 extra services are being added to the local Tarneit network, including the new Route 186 running daily between Tarneit and West Tarneit stations, and a more frequent Route 182 connecting through to Werribee.
A Station Worth Walking To
The precinct itself is being landscaped with more than 17,000 native trees, grasses and shrubs, with separated walking and cycling paths and plenty of seating – works that will continue after opening day. It’s a green, well-designed public space in keeping with life at Unity Park, where every home is already a short walk from parks, Barayip Primary School and local shopping.

Unity Park: Making everyday travel easier
This is what buying into a masterplanned community looks like when it delivers. Schools, childcare, parks and shopping – and from Sunday 13 September, a city-bound train line minutes from your front door. For homebuyers weighing up Melbourne’s west, it’s the kind of infrastructure that keeps adding value to your address long after you’ve moved in.
Mark the date: Sunday 13 September.
